Despite having the Acid Reflux medical problem, the one and only Asia’s Songbird, Mrs. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid (RVA) was able to prove that nobody can still beat her in the Philippines stage when it comes to belting power. This was during her mini-concert held at the Market Market, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig Philippines, May 18.

I was one of the early birds who caught a good seating location at the songbird concert!

In this photo, the concert was about to start in a few minutes so the band was preparing their respective instruments.

The songbird showcased ten powerful songs that astonished the audience especially her solid fans and the passer-by who were present at the venue. Among the songs that she rendered were Ako’y Iyong-Iyo (from her album Covers Volume 1), Tuwing Umuulan (from her Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw OST album), You Don’t Know and True Romance (from her album Fantasy), Catch My Breath (as popularized by Kelly Clarkson), The Only Exception (as popularized by Paramore), Diamonds (as popularized by Rihanna), Clouds Across The Moon (from her album Low Key), and Adele Medley.

One of my favorites in this mini concert was when she performed the song Catch My Breath. It was a truly breathtaking performance that only a true songbird can take risk.

Click on this link to watch the Catch My Breath performance.

Of course, she nailed all her performances as the audience felt that in every note that she has hit, she hit it perfectly with all her heart, a trademark of a world class talent. Actually, after the Adele Medley performance which she flawlessly gave justice, the audience made their standing ovation. Hence she then returned the favor by giving another set of Dance Medley songs.

During the half of the show, RVA has announced that she is currently undergoing a Vocal Therapy to completely regain her golden voice.

Click on this link to watch the short video clip of her impromptu speech.

The jam-packed mini concert lasted for an hour and as expected, the audience was completely satisfied.

Don’t Look at the Sun

When I was a kid, I enjoyed staring at the Sun. Although it’s quite a weird thing, I manage to have a technique of doing it.

Just form both of your hands to a ‘pinching state’ and join the tips of your right thumb to your left thumb, and your right pointer to your left pointer, leaving a small diamond shaped like hole. That diamond hole will serve as your filter to the light rays of Sun which will let you see the actual round shape of it.

After doing this kind of activities, it thus have a long term effect because it affected my eyes. My vision became blurred when I was in third year high school and I started with a grade of 50 for both eyes. Nine years after my initial grade, it gradually increased to 575 (left) and 600 (right). Right then, my family and I have decided that I will undergo an Epi-lasik procedure.

Three years later after the operation, my eyes are still 20/20. Thanks to the Lord above and to the doctor and the nurses who made the Epi-Lasik operation successful, also to the support that came from my family.

As part of the post-operative procedures, my doctor eye specialist has advice me to wear a pair of shades with UV protection every time I go outside especially during sunny days. This is to continually protect my eyes because he said that my blurry vision could still persist if I won’t be taking care of it. Well, as a person who looks forward in taking care of his/her own eyes, we now have a plenty number of shades and sunglasses like the one I saw in www.eyesave.com. Moreover, the good thing there is that you don’t need to go to a mall just to check what are the latest models and design for your shades.

Maybe, I was just curious that’s why I‘d like to have a glimpse of the brightest star in the Universe. Perhaps, it’s normal for a kid to experiment on things happening around – a sign of a godly-innocent creature! (AAP)

Puff Away Your Stress

Recently, I have a returnee-office mate who joined our team. Yes, he is a rehire employee. The reason why he returned it’s because he said that company where he was hired sucks. I don’t believe him in the first place because I think there’s no company that truly sucks, there are only stupid people who mismanage the company. Now that’s the thing!

Anyway, this article is not about company related or employee issues or concern. This is about cigars!

When I asked my returnee officemate how did he manage to stay more than a year in that company despite the stressful environment and horrible leaders? Well, he just said he puffed away the stress with sticks of cigars! How did he do that? I don’t know because I’m not a smoker. But like what I keep on telling myself: everything happens for a reason.

I knew a lot of friends who smoke, and they have the same reason. Smoke to release the tension and relax the feeling.

Puff away your stress! I’m nothing against smoker because my friends who smoke are always in the proper area when they do it. Maybe, the way on how to free yourself from stress could just be in the person’s mind and it really depends on how you manage the situation especially health. (AAP)

Work Differently at Elance

Work Differently at Elance, Elance Europe, Elance Philippines, Elance’s Work Summit 2013, Work Summit for Freelancers, Freelancing Work Summit, Elance 2013, Elance Philippines 2013

Freelancer Rules… It is true that in this era where we can witness the power of Wireless Connectivity and Social Media, the Freelancers rule! This was proven to us by Elance, the largest and most popular freelance platform for businesses looking to hire and work with top freelancers, when they successfully conducted the first ever Work Summit for Freelancers in the Philippines held at Area05 Superclub, Tomas Morato, Quezon City, April 23.

Participants of the Elance Work Summit

Over 500,000 businesses and 2 million freelance professionals in more than 150 countries, Elance has emphasized the importance of virtual work because it does not only help the companies to become more productive using less resource since the manpower makes use of his or her own space or property instead of that of the companies’. This means less workspace, less maintenance and less expense but the same equal amount of work.

Mr. Kjetil J. Olsen, Vice President of Elance Europe

Furthermore, there is a significant amount of productivity especially when your freelancers are working opposite your workday, which means that when your business or your employees in your local area is already out of the office, your business could still work 24/7 since someone on the other side of the world is attending to it. Now that’s impressive!

A House is not a Home

A House is not a Home I may sound old school, but I prefer calling our house as home. The reason behind, it’s because when I hear the word home it, my mind automatically pictures out the images of a perfect place to stay and relax free from stress.

Recently, my sister’s family has successfully moved to their new home a few blocks away from their old location. Since, my niece and nephew are starting to grow up; it was then a perfect time for their relocation.

Their new home is three times bigger from the previous one, about 65 square meters. Moreover, it is a three storey building which is cozy enough for a family of six members including their helper and another extended family member.

Unlike their old home, this one has its own parking space. Well, a much more secured way of placing their Mitsubishi Delica. When I check the interior and exterior designs of their home, I was quite impressed because the construction was only overseen by my Brother-In-Law, who is a Dentist by profession and another person who is their foreman. Of course, the whole building plan was designed by his Civil Engineer brother. But it’s quite impressive because knowing that he is a Dentist, he was able to successfully accomplish supervising the construction close to the timeline that he has planned.

When I asked him about the costs, he said he spent more than a million pesos for the home construction with the assistance from his siblings. The price speaks for itself as it can be seen on the output. The materials that have been used there were elegant and within standards, like the one mostly found in exclusive industrial supply company of today’s modern times.

I can still remember the time when their home is not completely built yet, one cannot imagine how it will look like after construction. But now, I am inspired because my expectation was over-all exceeded. Furthermore, I can confidently say that their house is not just a house but a home for a loving and caring family like my sister’s have. (AAP)
