Music is my life! Of all the talents that God has given me, singing and playing musical instruments are my favorites. I keep on telling my close friends that if I’m not an Engineer who is working as a full time Systems Analyst, I might be somewhere entertaining people with performances.
Well, I have no regret at all because I love my current profession and I can still perform in front of many people as a part time performer. Aside from being the band leader of TheUnspoken acoustic band, I’m also the male lead vocal and I play musical instruments at the same time. Neither a guitar nor a keyboard is the instrument that I’m playing but what I call the ‘C’ instruments: Caracas, Cajun (Beatbox Drum) and Chime, or better known as the percussion instruments. Sooner or later, I’ll be playing Bongo Drums for our Bossa Nova sets of songs.
In order for me to fulfill this role, I should sing and play the instrument at the same time. Based on experience, it’s really challenging for a performer to multi-task because you need to synchronize with the other members of the band and you need to move as one. Sometimes I even catch my breath to be just in synch with them.
We usually perform at the wedding and birthday receptions in different venues like hotels, resorts, and conferences. For me, the audience applause is the food to my soul. It satisfies me not just as a performer but more of a worthy person with one greatest purpose, and that is to entertain people! (AAP)
