A Walk to Remember

Actually, I haven’t watched yet this film of Mandy Moore but according to my sister, it was a great film about love. Setting aside the film, have you experienced a very long distance of walking in your life? When I say long distance, I mean in kilometers? Well, maybe those who are in the provinces or in the very isolated area that is unreachable by the modern transportations such as trains or cars. Quite tough, huh!

However, you’ll be surprised with me because I’m already living in the city and yet, I used to walk in longer distances when I go to the office, usually in hundreds of meters. Although, we already have trains and buses, I still need to walk due to different reasons. Sometimes because of the heavy traffic and I think that I could walk faster than waiting for the bus or jeepney to move due to the congested roads especially during the rush hours. Sometimes, if I’m inside a mall, I just walk from one stall to the other, observing the surroundings because it makes me feel good as I meet different kinds of people and it inspires me to construct an idea or story for the stage play or short story or sometimes, even for the screenplay that I’m writing. It doesn’t just help my subconscious mind but it also aids my body due to the health benefits.

One thing I notice after doing this kind of activity, is the pain my feet feels because of the material of the shoes or sandals that I’m wearing. There are materials that really don’t fit to one’s feet but I know there are remedies like the lynco orthotics that are scientifically designed to relieve the tired muscles and to relax it the way the person would want their feet to be.

I can still remember what my mom used to tell me that during her elementary school days that they need to walk in kilometers just to attend to classes. This makes their feet really tired and their shoes look really old even just for a year of wearing.

Lucky enough that I’m living in the city and I won’t ever regret walking in long distances this is because I know to myself the importance of walking. Thus, it has a lot of benefits to me not just as a person but as an individual who appreciates life’s challenges! (AAP)
