More than hundreds of IT professionals, stock holders, and business owners from different companies gathered together to celebrate Oracle Day Manila 2012 held at Rigodon Ballroom, The Peninsula Manila Hotel, Ayala Avenue, Makati City, March 14.
With the theme, Your Vision, Engineered, different forum on the current issues in the world of Information Technology have been discussed such as Oracle Fusion Applications (innovation on the existing Oracle products), Cloud Computing and Big Data.
The event registration started at 8am, and fortunately, early bird participants received a gift from Oracle and they were able to have an ample time in looking around, visiting the sponsors’ booths.
Mr. John Hansen, the Director of Asia Pacific HCM Consulting Program of Oracle, graced the opening remarks followed by his overview on Oracle Applications. He discussed that Oracle continue to expand and innovate its products to assist the ever growing global industry. He further mentioned that although Oracle focuses in developing the so-called Oracle Fusion Applications (the complete interface package of Oracle products such as PeopleSoft/Siebel/JD Edwards/CRM), the company will continue to enhance the existing individual Oracle products like PeopleSoft, Siebel, JD Edwards and CRM.
Meanwhile Mr. Arthur Tyde, III, the Program Executive – High Performing Computing, Grid and Cloud of Oracle Asia Pacific, shared his knowledge on Cloud Computing. He tackled its overview and advantages, including the disadvantages when it comes to security. He was able to show the comparison between the Public, Private and Hybrid computing, and he identified which among the three, best suits in a company based on its target goal. He further stated that, in choosing Oracle as its partner, the company can have more value, more choice and can be more confident in the industry.
The third topic focused mainly on what the Oracle Corporation is doing about the issue in handling Big Data. Mr. Raymond Au, Senior Partner Development Manager and Director at Oracle Corporation confidently discussed the existing Big Data issues in IT today. He further shared his expertise on how Oracle designed its application to completely address the I.T.’s problem in handling Big Data. Moreover, he revealed the new Oracle Appliance products and he was able to describe the high level concept of each products.
In the afternoon, all participants were asked to proceed at the respective Track or Module they have chosen to attend. Oracle has prepared three Tracks or Module: Oracle Applications, Cloud Computing and Big Data. Unlike the morning session, these separate discussions have covered the more detailed concept of the three topics.
As one of the highlights in the afternoon session for the topic Oracle Applications, Mr. Hansen was able to demonstrate the current HCM and CRM Oracle Applications they have designed exclusively for mobile and tablet users: iOS and Android systems.
Aside from that, Mr. Pieter Els, Oracle Director – APAC Product Management and Strategy-SCM Applications, has prepared an additional forum on Oracle Corporation’s business concept about transforming the value chain framework of a company with regards to its challenges.
The Oracle Day Manila 2012 event was really a fruitful, inspiring and a productive avenue for IT professionals to meet and socialize. Moreover, an excellent strategy for Oracle Corporation to introduce and promote its fascinating products to the global market. (AAP)
